Want to Sell Your Story or Book to Hollywood?

Find Your Inner Confidence

A few years ago, a high school teacher from the suburbs of Philadelphia had his novel turned into a movie.

To date, the movie based on his book has grossed $236,412,453.

And the cherry on top… the film was nominated for an Academy Award!

The movie was Silver Linings Playbook starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence.

Want to see your book, story or manuscript become a movie or TV show?

If you answered “yes” then you’re invited to join my friend Steve Harrison onFriday, November 24th for a free telephone seminar on How To Sell Your Book To Hollywood As A Movie Or TV Show… Even If It’s Self-Published

On the call Steve is interviewing a true Hollywood insider who helps hundreds of published and unpublished authors and screenwriters bring their projects to the screen.

https://m164.infusionsoft.com/go/SYBTH/A13522/

Steve’s guest has worked with some of the biggest producers and movie studios in Hollywood to get movies made, including Paramount pictures, Universal Music, Jerry Bruckheimer, the Hughes Brothers who’ve produced 6 major studio films (including The Book Of Eli starring Denzel Washington) and many more.

On the How To Sell Your Book To Hollywood As A Movie Or TV Show… Even If It’s Self-Published call, you’ll discover…

  • The number one mistake book authors make when approaching Hollywood about turning their book into a movie
(if you don’t do this one little thing right, you’re doomed from the start… yet it’s so easy to correct)

  • The formula veteran screenwriters use to catch a buyer’s attention and allow them to instantly visualize how your story will look on the screen

  • What you need to do as a self-published author to get an option on your book and how much you can expect to sell the option to your book

  • The 6 key phases of turning your book idea into a movie

  • Why the fact that all the major studios are actually making LESS movies IMPROVES your odds of having your book made into a movie (this weird dichotomy is turning Hollywood on its head and totally changing the playing field for independent publishers and writers)

  • 9 questions you need to ask yourself about your idea or story that can lead you to the right path to market your work in Hollywood

  • The differences between writing for a big Hollywood movie and episodic TV

  • The newest and one of the fastest growing markets in Hollywood, “Theater On Demand”, and why it’s perfect for self-published authors to get movies made of their work

  • The 3 biggest myths for turning a book into a movie

  • Why sending your book directly to an agent, producer, studio or production company is the WORST thing you can do (and what you need to send to these people instead of your book that will catch their attention)

  • How the Hollywood system really works (and why sending general inquiry letters to studios and production houses is a waste of time and effort)

  • How agents in the movie business are totally different than agents in the book business (and the right way to find a movie agent and send an inquiry letter that will get read and acted on)

Many people think you have to be a famous author or written a string of best sellers to have your book turned into a movie or TV series.

But the author of Silver Linings Playbook proves you don’t have to be famous or prolific.

Did you know 29,218 movies started out as books

And you can bet they weren’t all written by famous writers.

And more novels, true stories, nonfiction books and “How To” books are being turned into movies and TV shows than ever before.

In fact, 5 of the 9 Academy Award nominated films for 2012 started out as books

And right now Hollywood producers are looking for more books and stories they can turn into movies and TV shows.

That’s because today there are more broadcast channels, thousands of cable channels, a growing number of independent film companies, movies and videos on demand, online movies and MORE media outlets now than at any other time in history.

And guess what all these media companies need?

They all need fresh content.

And books (both fiction and non fiction… and everything from novels to how-to books) are the perfect source material for new movies and TV shows.

If you’ve ever dreamed of seeing your “name up in lights”…

If you have a message you think can be turned into a movie or TV series…

Or if you’re just plain fed up with the quality of shows on TV today and know your story would make for better viewing…

Then make sure to jump on the free telephone seminar on Friday, November 24th.  It’s free for you to listen in on the interview. Just go here now to reserve your spot:

Tuesday 11/21: How Jack created 47 NY Times bestselling books

Finding Your Inner Confidence

When he was first starting out, Jack Canfield and his credit cards were almost maxed out and 144 publishers had rejected his book “Chicken Soup for the Soul.”

But he never gave up his dream of being a bestselling author.

Today Jack is arguably the most successful, bestselling non-fiction author of all time.

He has over 500 million books in print and has launched 47 New York Times bestsellers (and even had 7 books simultaneously on the list at one point).

But how did Jack get from where he was to where he really wanted to be?

You can find out on a free webinar, on Tuesday, November 21st, on which Jack will be interviewed by Steve Harrison, who has helped over 12,000 authors promote their books.

Whether your book right now is just a dream, a still-to-be-completed manuscript, or a published reality, this call is for you.

  • Jack’s journey from inner city public school teacher to bestselling author and speaker.
  • Why becoming a bestseller is no longer about luck – it’s about having a plan.
  • 5 ways writing a book will change your life.
  • What you should ideally be doing before you start writing your book and trying to get it published.
  • How Jack responded when his book was initially rejected by 144 publishers as well as his own literary agent, and how you too can find the inspiration to keep going.
  • Key insights into how the publishing and book marketing game really works.
  • A simple technique Jack used in writing his book, “The Success Principles,” which allowed him to later sell thousands of copies to a single company. Plus, how Jack used the same method to land 50 speaking engagements — all because of something he did while writing the book.
  • A powerful way to overcome any initial discomfort you might feel about putting yourself out there as an author, speaker, book promoter or talk show guest.
  • How to structure your book so it’s the best possible book it can be and people tell their friends about it Some of the pros and cons between traditional publishing and self publishing.

How to Land a TEDx Talk (and Other Tips for Becoming a Success Speaker)

Finding Your Inner Confidence

TEDx Talk Webinar

Would you like to do a TEDx talk?

Rise Wilson- Founder of The Laundromat Project

This is Rise Wilson’s YouTube video that forever and a day can be visited by hundreds, thousands and millions of viewers who subscribe to YouTube.

Rise Wilson is the founder of The Laundromat Project – How Making Art is a Practice Space for Becoming A Change Agent. Ms. Wilson also happens to be my niece.

You should really consider it.

Why?  Because when you give a really good TEDx talk, it’s not uncommon for the video of your talk to be seen on YouTube by hundreds of thousands of people all around the world.

Imagine someone Googling your name and the first thing they see is a TEDx talk with more than 300,000 views.  That’s credibility!

But of course, there’s a lot you need to know to make this happen.
First, most TEDx organizers are flooded with applications from far more would-be speakers than they can accept.  Plus, many only accept those based on very narrow criteria, such as being associated with a given university.

Second, the quality of the video you’ll get from your TEDx talk varies dramatically depending on the organizer – which is a huge problem, since coming away with a really compelling, well-edited video on YouTube is the biggest payoff of your talk.  A not-so great video might be worse than none at all.

My friend Steve Harrison and his team have helped 19 of his clients land TEDx talks in the last few years. They’ve learned an enormous amount in the process, and they’ll be sharing some of that wisdom in a live web class this Thursday.

Join Steve’s free web class on “How to Land a TEDx Talk (and Other Tips for Becoming a Successful Speaker)” this Wednesday, November 15th, at your choice of 2pm Eastern (11 am Pacific) or 7 pm Eastern (4 pm Pacific).

=> https://m164.isrefer.com/go/QLTEDxLivecast/A13522/

Here’s a sneak peek at what Steve and Geoffrey Berwind, one of the world’s foremost public speaking and storytelling experts, will show you on the web class:

–     How delivering a really good TEDx talk can be a huge boost to your career.

–     What you need to know about the process of landing a TEDx talk.

–     Want to write a book but it’s not out yet?  Discover why you might considering doing a TEDx talk first.

–     Actual case histories of authors, experts and entrepreneurs who landed TEDx talks… what they learned… plus how they made it pay off.

–     3 ways to instantly improve any talk you give.

–     What a “signature story” is and why it’s so important you have one.

–     5 of the most important things every speaker should know about storytelling.

Production, Publishing and Marketing Services

Deborah Wilson Smart

Gladstone Publishing Services was founded in 1998, and began publishing its first books the following year.  “Before the SmokeScreen” by David Goerlitz with Gary LaForest shortly followed by “No Nonsense, Nathan” by Paula Nolte were the titles of its first two offerings.  Deborah working with her Senior Publishing Editor, Gary LaForest offered a unique personalized service working hand-in-hand with the writers to bring them into the realm of authorship.  After suffering a personal tragedy, the loss of her husband and life partner of 20 years, Donald, Gladstone Publishing’s operation was put on hiatus.

In 2009, Deborah resurrected her love for writing and working with authors and offered her services as a Senior Publishing Consultant.  Deborah had remarried and charted a new direction for her life.  She honed her skills in publishing layout, editing and book design.  She personally launched the writing careers of over 40 first time authors  and worked with experienced authors to get their books into print.  To see her portfolio of books and book cover designs visit her websites: http://www.gladstonepublishing.com and http://onesmartladyproductions.org.  In 2011, One Smart Lady Productions was established by Deborah to focus on producing projects in multiple medias.  OSLP specializes in book production, traditional paperback and hardback and the ever popular electronic books.  Videography has also been added to the mix of products. Thus we have the name, “OSLP/GPS” One Smart Lady Productions/Gladstone Publishing Services.

In 2016, Deborah flew out to Arizona to the launch of a new online university. It was a client of the Four Percent Portfolio which she is a life-time member. From that conference, she returned and launched her first online store, The Pearline Oyster Shopping Mall. Originally designed to sell pearl jewelry to compliment her String of Pearl book series, she has expanded to multiple specialty collections. Ever seeking to learn more about building an eCommerce presence, she diligently learned more and more about the training and tools offered by Four Percent.

In 2017, I continued my Social Media Marketing education, by investing in online training courses and finally taking a major step and joining the Wealth Generator Community of  Investors.

My transition from downsizing my publishing services and focusing on my financial future has officially begun. Over the years I have mastered book production and now I am focusing on Social Media marketing and financial investments. It’s true there are no guarantees in life, but unless you step out on faith, you will remain stagnant and in the mindset of “I Wish…” “What If I…” and more negative thoughts.

Please take a look at the opportunity links I’ve posted in this article. If you have questions, write me admin@yourinnerconfidence.com. I look forward to growing with your portfolio with you.

Stay Alert for Your Miracle

Advice from One Smart Lady

Sunday at the Arts and Artists Extravaganza, I purposely set out to meet the vendors and introduce them to myself and my new networking website, http://yourinnerconfidence.com. As I introduced myself to Lucretia Coleman, I was not prepared for what happened next.

Lucretia and I talked, agreed on many things, and I believe we were both very happy that I made the connection. I asked her where she was from, and she gave me a location that was not far from my family’s hometown, Penllyn, Pennsylvania. She then asked my name again, because she was as surprised as I was at the coincidence. I proudly told her I was related to the Penllyn Wilsons. She then told me we were probably related and she began to name names. The first name she said was my cousin Wayne Wilson. Sure enough some how I found another cousin (even if it is only by marriage).

That was a tiny miracle. Continuing the conversation about her business, she then mentioned she worked for Merck. Bam! “My father worked at Merck,” I blurted out. “Who’s your father?” she asked. “Bill Wilson” was my response. Her eyes got even bigger than they were and a smile broke out on her face of pure joy.

“I worked with your father.” Bip. Bam. Boom.

Unbeknownst to me when I got out of bed that morning, God had a door waiting for me to open and expand my world. The world that included a father who has slipped away over 20 years ago. Lucretia ate lunch with my father. She and her friends hung out during breaks with him. She brought back memories of his smile and his laugh. She even shared with me how sometimes he had this habit of talking through clinched teeth.

I also expressed my regret that I missed the opportunity to talk with his former golfing buddies. They had participated in the Negro Golf Tournaments during the late 50s and 60s. That was history that I experienced first hand as he returned from each trip with a golden trophy in his hand. I am proud to know that I come from someone who was so well liked and admired by many. My dad was not home much after I turned 12. He worked full-time and then left work and operated his own business until he retired and relocated to Connecticut.

I never had an opportunity that my younger brother and sister, Paul and Jan had knowing my father. He was hard- working and followed his passion. Unfortunately his passion took him away from his family. I write this to say, no matter, what business you are working hard to build, make time for your family, especially your spouse and your children. You had no choice in the family you were birthed to, but you had everything to do with the selection and creation of the ones who live in your household.

Many will give testimony to how short time is, make the best of it. Stay alert for the miracles that will come. As they did for me, they will for you.

Friday Night Road Trips

Advice From One Smart Lady

I remember Fridays when I was very young waiting impatiently for my Dad to come home from work. As I look back I marvel at my father’s stamina. We lived in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. He worked in North Wales, PA which was a little over 15 miles by car. Each day he drove 30 miles or more back and forth to his job. On Friday’s he drove home and loaded the car with my mother, my four siblings and myself, and retraced his route partially to take us to our grandfather’s store to do the grocery marketing.
I am absolutely floored by my father’s dedication to us. Remember he drove 30 miles that day back and forth from work. He then retraced a little over 13 miles of that trip to get to our grandparent’s home in Penllyn, PA. The blessing was our grandmother always had a meal waiting for us.
For me, the highlight of that trip was walking into my grandfather’s store, “Wilson’s Grocery Market”. It was a stucco and brick building at the end of their backyard.
In Front of Papa's Store - Wilson's Grocery Market

Aunts Ruby and Sissy (Grace) Wilson with my brother Eddie (Avon) and me the future One Smart Lady

I now realize it was there I received my baptism to be an entrepreneur. During the 50s and early 60s, people did not many supermarkets to choose from. They shopped in their neighborhoods at small family stores. The shelves were always fully stocked, waiting for the customers to come. I now understand the feeling as I built my store online, and now each day wait for my customers to come.
Unlike most online merchants, I have experienced the joy and pride of the waiting period. I enjoy the time I spend tweaking and looking for new products to add to my online shopping mall. Sales come in as people need what I sell. I understand that, and I have built the Pearline Shopping Mall with a strong foundation to withstand the wait.
There are preparations to make if you are looking to build your store online. If you have been watching the explosive growth of Amazon, eBay, Etsy, and Shopify, you must accept the reality, it is about “eCommerce”. I remember there was a movie “The Graduate” where the insider stressed “One word, Plastics”. Indeed he was right. Look at our world today, overwhelmed with plastic products.
I highly recommend you join me in learning how to bring your product and/or services offline and jump in with both feet and join the eCommerce wave. I have been actively and purposely learning eCommerce and Social Media Marketing from an awesome group of experts. Over the past ten years, I have mastered the art of blogging. I am now learning how to merge what I love, writing with my eCommerce ventures.
One of the questions I am sure to be asked, “What does this have to do with writing and publishing a book?” My answer, “Once your book is published, you have to market, advertise and sell it. Your book is now a product. You may also have a workshop or speech presentation attached to this book. You must learn about marketing funnels, autoresponders, and other tools.”
If you have any questions, please list them in the comments below so my answers will help others who may have the same question.

Habit #6: Accentuate the Positive

Advice from One Smart Lady

Habit #6
Accentuate the Positive

“There is very little difference in people,
But that little difference makes a big difference.
The little difference is attitude.
The big difference is whether it is positive or negative.”

Clement Stone

No matter where you go there are memes and quotes reminding us the importance of being positive.

Positive Attitude Sightings

OpenBible  Goodreads  Brainyquotes  Pinterest

What is your Positive Outlook Factor?

3 if your answer is always,
2 if it is sometimes
1 if it is occasionally
0 if never.

  1. Do you thank a person who finds fault or criticizes you for whatever was truthful?
  2. When a stranger stares at you do you think it is because he/she likes you?
  3. When there is a sudden change of plans or an obstacle to your goal, do you see a hidden advantage in the change or obstacle?
  4. Are you able to compliment others for their success?
  5. Do you remember your past successes more than your failures?
  6. Do you easily recover from setbacks?
  7. By and large, does life seem good to you?

Score Results:

16-21 Excellent. You are thoroughly positive in your outlook. I only hope you’ve been completely honest!

11-15: Good. You are sometimes a positive person and have a foundation on which to build.

8-10: Fair. Your outlook could certainly do with an overhaul.

Below 8: You are in trouble. You clearly need to work on your negative tendencies.

Habit #5: Value Life’s Little Blessings

Advice from One Smart Lady

Habit #5
Value Life’s Little Blessings

“May we never let the things we can’t have or don’t have, or shouldn’t have, spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have.” Richard L. Evans

This statement is so true. There are times when we allow our anxiety or passion for our pursuits overshadow our relationships with our family and friends. We work hard to obtain the financial independence so we can be debt-free. We spend hours attending webinars and seminars on the internet and around when we can we travel around the globe. When we do that too often, we forsake our relationships and our own personal needs. This is the purpose of this series, “The Habit of Your Mind.” Sin did not become sin until the law was introduced. These habits have been introduced to you so you know “how to do better.”

Dr. Hart shares the story of The Guinness Book of Records entry “The Greatest Miser”, Hetty Green. She was a financier and New York Stock Exchange member whose desire for wealth consumed her. You can Google her full story. She maintained a bank balance of $31 million and died with an estate worth $100 million. She lived on cold oatmeal and in a home where she refused to heat. The living condition was so bad it caused her son’s leg to be amputated because she refused to heat the house. She died after having a convulsion while arguing over the virtues of skim milk.

As we, those of us pursuing our fortunes on the internet and off-line, work hard to build our businesses and enterprises, we must be mindful that obtaining great wealth does not always equate to obtaining great happiness. In most cases, it is just the opposite.

So of the things that bring you great happiness, do not cost anything or very little. Just think about it. Take a moment and jot down moments that bring a smile to your face remembering the time when…

We have become a nation addicted to extremes. The bigger, louder and edgy something is, it captures our attention. That is why videos, pictures, and memes with animals and children bring the softer side out of us. I set up a page, “Let Your Light Shine” because I wanted to be able to go to a page and scroll through at times when I needed a smile, laugh or even cry.

The 5th habit goes deep into how well our spiritual foundation is structured. How do we respond to life’s gotcha’s or lacks?

“Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat,
Or what ye shall drink…Behold the fowls of the air;
For they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns;
Yet your heavenly Father feedeth them.
Matthew 6:25-26

I recall that scripture from time to time as I go through challenges periodically in my life. I take a walk and take in the world around me.

What do you do to self-heal and rid yourself of anger, disappointments, and regret? Consider this short list:

  • Visit Friends
  • Visit Family
  • Walk in the Park
  • Bike in the Park
  • Run in the Park
  • Sit in the Park
  • Fish by the water’s edge
  • Work in your garden
  • Admire a garden
  • Conversation with a Stranger
  • Conversation with an Old Friend
  • Snuggle with a loved one
  • Snuggle with your pet

The list goes on and on, and these items do not cost anything to do. What are you willing to do to ensure you ‘Value Life’s Little Blessings’?

You have been given Five (5) senses, use them to bring you closer to enjoying God’s gifts to you.

  • Go to the Library and take out an audio book – Listen to the words and allow your mind to travel to another time and place.
  • Go to the Library and take out a book – See the words and allow your mind to travel to another time and place.
  • Find a local eatery or prepare something at home – Eat and taste the food that brings you enjoyment. Note: I just recently began eating cream cheese and jelly sandwiches. I loved them as a child. We did not have bagels in our home in the 50’s.
  • Smell freshly cut grass; flowers; food being prepared by your neighbors; the scent of a loved one-spouse, babies, etc.
  • Touch someone you care deeply for and allow them to touch you. Hug a child. Hug your pet. What do you enjoy touching? I love soft clothes and blankets; rose petals and my cat’s fur. I love snuggling up next to my husband.

Reach out and accept these blessings. Each and every day take the time to enjoy the little blessings in your life.

Habit #4: Don’t Punish Yourself

Advice from One Smart Lady

Habit #4
Don’t Punish Yourself

Have you considered the fact, God has forgiven us for every sin, mistake, and failure we ever made or will ever make?

Self-punishment can be a result of your conscience going bad. Remember the difference between true guilt and false guilt (Habit #3 – Keep Your Conscience Clear)?

Ways of Self-Punishment

  • Turning our anger inward
  • Robbing ourselves of pleasure
  • Acting out Self-defeating Behaviors
  • Failing to accomplish personal objectives

Solution: Form a counter habit.

  • Too Critical?

-Change to Complimentary Mode.

  • Feeling Bad about Yourself?

-Volunteer in your community.

-Give sacrificially to a good cause in either time or money

-Help someone in real need

Self-Reflection

Looking in the mirror of self-reflection is not always beneficial. Like the distorted mirrors at the carnival, you may look fat when you are actually thin.

“God intended self-reflection to be the means of honest information about ourselves for growth and healing.”

“Search me, O God, and know my heart:
Try me and know my thoughts:
And see if there be any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.”
Psalm 139:23-24

This prayer leads us directly to the heart of God. It addresses exactly what God intended self-reflection to be; motivating us to know ourselves deeply and therefore to reach out for God, not to find a reason to self-punish.

Healthy self-reflection opens your mind to full discovery and spiritual wholeness.

“If we fail to become whole in mind and spirit, it is not because the Gospel is insufficient for our needs. It is because our grasps of the Gospel is so deficient.” Dr. Archibald D. Hart
